The 5 most expensive bottles of wine in the World

by Michael on September 28, 2011

The Times recently published a list of the 5 most expensive bottles of wine.

Despite being partial to a small tipple of wine each evening (okay I lied about the “small”), I don’t think there is any chance of me getting my taste buds around any of the wines on this list:

 1. CHATAU LAFITE (An 1869 bottle sold in 2010 for £147 180)

2. ROMANEE-CONTI (An 1945 bottle sold in 2011 for £80 000)

3. CHATEAU D’YQUEM (An 1811 bottle recently sold for £75 000)

4. ROMANEE-CONTI (An 1990 bottle recently sold for £12 103)

5. ROMANEE-CONTI (An 1985 bottle recently sold for £9 683)

Now my wine cellar (the cupboard under the stairs) only consists in bottles I am likely to drink over the next few months, but honestly this does make you think about maybe looking more closely at Investing in Wine….. maybe a future article will be dedicated to this….. probably have to partake in alot of tasting (lol)!

Michael.
